Sat. Nov. 17 –  SINCC Meeting

Tues. Nov. 20  Staff Brown Bag – Joseph Regenstein Library, University of Chicago.  A presentation on the latest Emily Cabot mystery DEATH AT WOODS HOLE. University of Chicago scientists were active at Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole in 1890’s. How the position of women in science at that time inspire scenes in the book.

Fri.  Nov.30 Luncheon at the Cliff Dwellers Club in honor of Jane Addams induction into the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame.  Induction ceremony 7-8:30 PM at Chicago Cultural Center’s Claudia Cassidy Theater.

From Don Evans: “”There is also a special luncheon earlier in the day at the Cliff Dwellers Club (200 S. Michigan Ave., program from noon-1 p.m.). It is the second annual Carl A. Kroc Award luncheon. The Kroc Award is given each year–starting last year with Harriet Monroe–to an inductee whose contributions extend far beyond their literary output. Katherine Joslin (biographer), Frances McNamara (novelist, Death at the Hull House) and a representative of the Hull House will give brief talks.”
